The Oculus (World Trade Center Transportation Hub)

The Oculus is the steel-and-glass main hall of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub designed by architect Santiago Calatrava and opened in 2016. Its rib-like vaulted structure functions as both an architectural centerpiece and a public art installation, linking PATH trains to multiple subway lines and containing a large retail concourse. The work is site-specific, constructed as part of the World Trade Center site redevelopment and widely discussed for its sculptural integration of transit and public space.
