Dunston Pillar

Dunston Pillar is a historic Grade II listed stone tower located in Lincolnshire, England, approximately 6 miles south of Lincoln. Originally commissioned in 1751 by Sir Francis Dashwood as a land lighthouse for the safety of travelers, it features a rich history including a lantern that aided navigation until the early 19th century. The tower, which once stood 92 feet tall, became a popular social spot with landscaped grounds for gatherings. Although the lantern was destroyed in a storm in 1808 and the tower's height was later reduced for aviation safety, Dunston Pillar remains a prominent landmark visible from the A15 road, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
