Vance C. Larmore House

The Vance C. Larmore House, located near Hammondville, Alabama, is a historic residence built in the mid-1840s by one of the area's earliest settlers, Vance C. Larmore. This two-story I-house showcases vernacular architecture brought from the East, featuring clapboard siding and a Victorian-style front porch added later. Larmore, who amassed a significant 1700 acres by 1860, played a vital role in the region's development following the Cherokee removal. The house's interior includes a center-hall plan and a rear ell with a kitchen and dining room. It was recognized for its historical significance by being listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1979 and the National Register of Historic Places in 2004, making it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers interested in Alabama's history.
