Marine Hotel, Batavia

The Marine Hotel was a historic landmark located at the southern end of Molenvliet West in Batavia, now Jakarta, Indonesia. Built in the 17th century, it showcased the Dutch Indies Empire style with its symmetrical layout, Greek columns, and spacious terrace. Originally a fort site, it transitioned into a hotel in the early 1830s, becoming a hub for travelers and even hosting the first known commercial photographer in Batavia. The hotel changed hands multiple times until it ceased operations in 1888 and was eventually demolished in 1890. Today, the site is marked by the Bank Tabungan Negara, reflecting the rich colonial history of the area.
