Quincy Market (1824–1826 granite market building)

Quincy Market was built between 1824 and 1826 as a large granite market building designed by Alexander Parris to handle Boston's growing wholesale and retail trade. The two-story central market structure served as a major piece of 19th-century commercial infrastructure and was later incorporated into the Faneuil Hall Marketplace preservation and redevelopment project in the 1970s. Quincy Market's long-span interior and covered vendor halls exemplify early American market-house engineering.
