The Barnes Foundation relocation and collection

The Barnes Foundation houses one of the world's largest collections of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, and early Modern paintings assembled by collector Albert C. Barnes. In 2012 the foundation moved its gallery from its original Merion location to a new building on Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia; that relocation was legally contested and widely reported. The collection is displayed according to Barnes' unconventional hanging system that groups works by visual relationships rather than strictly by artist or chronology.
