Hotel America (Hartford, Connecticut)

The Hotel America, now known as the Spectra Boutique Apartments, is a historic building located at 5 Constitution Ave. in Hartford, Connecticut. Completed in 1964, it was the first structure built as part of an urban redevelopment project aimed at revitalizing the downtown area. This twelve-story building is a notable example of Modern architecture, featuring a unique design that includes large steel I-beam trusses spanning Kinsey Street. Originally a hotel that underwent several branding changes, it was transformed into luxury apartments in 2011 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012, making it a significant landmark for both tourists and researchers interested in urban development and architectural history.
