African American Civil War Memorial and Museum

The African American Civil War Memorial honors the service of the United States Colored Troops and features a bronze sculpture group by Ed Hamilton in an outdoor memorial park. Adjacent to the memorial is the African American Civil War Museum, which interprets the history of Black soldiers and civilians during the Civil War era through exhibitions and historical materials. The memorial and museum are located near the U Street corridor and are frequented by residents interested in local and national Black history.
