Denny Regrade visible at Denny Park

Denny Park occupies a remnant of the original Denny Hill that was substantially lowered during the Denny Regrade projects between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Soil and rock removed from the regrade were used as fill in other parts of Seattle, including portions of the waterfront and south Lake Union. The park and surrounding abrupt grade changes and retaining walls provide visible evidence of the city's large-scale artificial regrading to reshape the urban landscape.
