Dallas Love Field (original municipal airport)

Love Field began operations in 1917 as Dallas's municipal airport and was named for Army pilot Lt. Moss L. Love. It served as the city's primary commercial airport until the opening of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in 1974 and was the focus of the long-running Wright Amendment federal restrictions on commercial air service originating there (enacted 1979, partially repealed 2013). The airport retains original early-aviation layout elements alongside modernized terminals and continues in commercial and general aviation use.
