Battle of Concepción (Mission Concepción)

Mission Concepción (Mission Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción de Acuña) in San Antonio was the site of the Battle of Concepción on October 28, 1835, an early engagement of the Texas Revolution. Texian volunteers led by James Bowie and others defeated a Mexican cavalry force at the mission. The mission's stone church is preserved within San Antonio Missions National Historical Park and is noted for its intact Spanish colonial architecture.
