Webber House, Brisbane

Webber House is a heritage-listed building located at 439 Ann Street, Brisbane, within the grounds of St John's Cathedral. Designed by architects John Smith Murdoch and Robin Dods, it was constructed in 1904 and originally served as a school and church hall. The building showcases a blend of Gothic and Arts and Crafts architectural styles, featuring steeply pitched slate roofs and intricate stonework. It has historical significance, having housed a school run by the Sisters of the Sacred Advent and later serving military purposes during World War II. Renovated in the late 1960s, it was named in honor of William Webber, a key figure in the cathedral's development. Webber House was added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 1992, recognized for its architectural creativity and cultural importance.
