National September 11 Memorial - Reflecting Absence

Reflecting Absence is the site-specific memorial installation at the World Trade Center site composed of two large square reflecting pools set within the footprints of the original Twin Towers. The pools are surrounded by bronze parapets inscribed with the names of the victims of the 2001 and 1993 attacks; the memorial opened to the public on September 11, 2011. The work was designed by architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker as a permanent commemorative installation.
