Arnold Arboretum - oldest public arboretum in North America

The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University was established in 1872 and is widely recognized as the oldest public arboretum in North America. Designed in part by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, it serves as a living collection for scientific research, education, and public enjoyment. The Arboretum maintains tens of thousands of plants and an extensive documented collection of trees and shrubs arranged across the Jamaica Plain landscape.
