John Shedwick Development Houses

The John Shedwick Development Houses, also known as the Lancastle, are a remarkable set of four historic rowhouses located in the Powelton Village neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Constructed between 1875 and 1876, these brick structures are distinguished by their green serpentine facing and Second Empire architectural style, featuring wooden first-floor porches, projecting bay windows, and distinctive mansard roofs with dormers. Recognized for their historical significance, they were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, making them an intriguing site for both tourists and researchers interested in architectural history.
