Bab Al Bahrain

Bab Al Bahrain, meaning 'Gateway of Bahrain', is a historical building located in the heart of Manama, marking the entrance to the vibrant Manama Souq. Opened in 1949 and designed by British adviser Charles Belgrave, this iconic structure has undergone several refurbishments, most recently in 2013, enhancing its Islamic architectural features. Today, it serves as a hub for tourists, housing a tourist information office and shops, including the first ice cream shop in Bahrain. Situated near key landmarks like the Bahrain Financial Harbour and the King Faisal Highway, Bab Al Bahrain is not only a gateway to the marketplace but also a significant cultural and historical site, with plans to become part of the future Bahrain Metro system.
