Old South Meeting House

Old South Meeting House, built in 1729, was a Congregational meeting house and a major public gathering place in colonial Boston. On December 16, 1773, large public meetings held there culminated in the action that became known as the Boston Tea Party; thousands of colonists assembled in the meeting house that day. The building now serves as a museum interpreting its role in the events leading to the American Revolution. It remains located on Washington Street in downtown Boston.
