USS Constitution ('Old Ironsides')

USS Constitution, launched in 1797, is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world and earned the nickname 'Old Ironsides' during the War of 1812. The ship is berthed at the Charlestown Navy Yard and remains a commissioned vessel of the U.S. Navy, open for public tours when in port. A separate USS Constitution Museum at the Navy Yard interprets the ship's construction, service, and cultural significance. The ship has undergone periodic restorations and dry-dock maintenance while preserving its original oak hull design.
