Sun Studio (Memphis Recording Service)

Sun Studio, established by Sam Phillips in 1950 as the Memphis Recording Service at 706 Union Avenue, is the studio where Elvis Presley made his first commercial recordings in 1954. Early career recordings by Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and B.B. King were also made there. The studio operates as a working recording studio and museum offering tours that highlight its role in the development of rock 'n' roll and rockabilly.
