National Archives Building (Charters of Freedom)

The National Archives Building at 701 Constitution Avenue NW, completed in 1935, houses the Charters of Freedom: the original Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights, which are displayed in the Rotunda. The neoclassical building includes a sculpted pediment and large public research rooms for federal records. It is administered by the National Archives and Records Administration and serves as the federal government's central archival repository for historically significant documents.
