Gokhran

Gokhran, the state institution under the Russian Ministry of Finance, manages the State Fund of Precious Metals and Precious Stones in Russia. Established in 1920, it has a rich history of collecting valuable items, including jewelry from the Romanovs and religious communities. Gokhran plays a crucial role in the Russian economy, particularly through its diamond purchasing initiatives, such as the $1 billion investment in uncut diamonds during the 2008 financial crisis to support the diamond mining industry. Additionally, it oversees the Diamond Fund and holds significant historical artifacts, including the Order of Victory medals.
