The David Whitney Building at 1 Park Ave is an early 20th-century commercial building that sat largely vacant for several decades in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Its prolonged vacancy was a notable example of downtown Detroit's blight during that period. A major rehabilitation completed in the mid-2010s converted the building to mixed-use space with hotel rooms and apartments, ending its long period of abandonment.
