Bunker Hill Monument granite obelisk

The Bunker Hill Monument is a 221-foot granite obelisk erected in Monument Square to commemorate the June 17, 1775 Battle of Bunker Hill; it was completed and officially dedicated in 1843. Visitors can climb an interior stair of 294 steps to reach the monument's observation area at the top. The monument and surrounding park are administered as part of the Boston National Historical Park and interpret the Revolutionary War battle and its legacy.
