Protestant Children's Home

The Protestant Children's Home, also known as the Protestant Orphans' Asylum, is a historic orphanage located in Mobile, Alabama, recognized on the National Register of Historic Places since 1973. Established in 1839 by women from various Protestant denominations, it was created to care for children orphaned by yellow fever epidemics. The building, designed by architect Henry Moffatt in a Late Federal style, features a striking three-story brick structure with a cast iron portico. In 2015, it was repurposed as Cotton Hall by the Infant Mystics society, making it a unique site for visitors interested in history and architecture.
