Wildwood (Beckley, West Virginia)

Wildwood, also known as the General Alfred Beckley Home, is a historic house museum located in Beckley, West Virginia. Built between 1835 and 1836, it was originally a simple log cabin and later transformed in 1874 into a more elaborate structure. The home reflects the vision of General Alfred Beckley, who founded the town in 1838. Visitors can explore the house's rich history, including its original pine floors and exposed log beams, while learning about the development of Beckley as the county seat of Raleigh County. Wildwood was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and offers a glimpse into 19th-century life in West Virginia.
