John Wood Mansion

The John Wood Mansion, built between 1835 and 1838 in Quincy, Illinois, is a historic Greek Revival home that served as the residence of John Wood, the 12th governor of Illinois. Known for its impressive four Doric columns and ornate details, the mansion showcases original furnishings from the Wood family. It was relocated to its current site to accommodate a larger mansion and has been recognized as one of Illinois' 150 most important architectural structures. Open for public tours from April to October, the mansion also hosts educational tours for local students and special candlelight tours in December. In 2018, it was honored as one of Illinois' 200 Great Places during the state's bicentennial celebrations.
