Independence National Historical Park archaeological program

Archaeologists from Independence National Historical Park and partner institutions have conducted systematic excavations and surveys across the park, recording 18th- and 19th-century urban deposits, foundations, wells, and artifact assemblages. Their fieldwork produced material evidence that informed interpretation and restoration at sites such as Franklin Court, the City Tavern, and the President's House. Archaeological reports and curated artifact collections from these projects are maintained by the National Park Service and associated repositories.
