16th Avenue Tiled Steps (Moraga Steps)

The 16th Avenue Tiled Steps (also called the Moraga Steps) are a public mosaic stairway created by artists Aileen Barr and Colette Crutcher with community volunteers; the project was completed in 2005. The 163-step mosaic features a sea-to-sky design across its risers and has become a frequent subject of widely shared social-media photos and local travel guides. The stairs connect Moraga Street and 16th Avenue in the Inner Sunset and are maintained by neighborhood volunteers and the city.
