University of Texas at Austin - origin of Dell

In 1984 Michael Dell founded PC's Limited (which later became Dell Computer Corporation) while a student at the University of Texas at Austin, operating initially out of his campus dorm room. He began by upgrading and selling PCs directly to customers, a direct-sales model that accelerated the company's early growth.
