National Museum of Women in the Arts

The National Museum of Women in the Arts opened in 1987 and is the only major museum in the world solely dedicated to celebrating women's achievements in the visual, performing, and literary arts. Its collection includes works by artists such as Mary Cassatt, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O'Keeffe and it mounts rotating exhibitions and public programs. The museum is located in a restored late-19th-century building on New York Avenue NW.
