Palægaragerne

Palægaragerne, or 'The Mansion Garages', is a historic early Modernist parking facility and filling station located in a narrow courtyard at Dronningens Tværgade 4 in central Copenhagen, Denmark. Built in the early 1930s, it was the first multi-storey parking facility in Denmark, designed by Oscar Gundlach-Pedersen and inspired by American architectural principles. The facility features a distinctive canopy over the filling station, reminiscent of famous designs by Arne Jacobsen. It was listed as a protected building in 1994 and underwent refurbishment between 2012 and 2015. The site is not only significant for its architectural value but also serves as a cultural landmark, having appeared in the 1977 film 'Alt på et bræt'.
