San Antonio Municipal Auditorium

The San Antonio Municipal Auditorium, built in 1926 as a memorial to World War I soldiers, was a historic venue known for its Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and significant cultural events. It featured a unique 12-sided design and housed a notable stage curtain painted by Hugo D. Pohl. After a fire in 1979, it underwent restoration and was rededicated in 1985. In 2009, the auditorium was razed to make way for the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, which opened in 2014, preserving parts of the original structure. The site remains a part of Veterans Memorial Plaza, honoring military history with various memorials, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
