Amber Mansions

Amber Mansions was a notable shopping centre and residential building in Dhoby Ghaut, Singapore, constructed in the 1920s. Designed by architect Alfred John Bidwell, it was one of the first shopping centres in Singapore, featuring a mix of boutiques and residential apartments. Despite its popularity among socialites, the building faced challenges, including frequent burglaries in the 1940s. The structure was eventually acquired by the Urban Redevelopment Authority in 1978 and demolished in 1984 to make way for the Dhoby Ghaut MRT station, marking the end of an era for this historically significant site.
