Spreckels Theatre (1912)

Spreckels Theatre in downtown San Diego was completed in 1912 and was funded by sugar magnate John D. Spreckels as a major vaudeville and civic playhouse. The theater's classical auditorium and ornate interior exemplify early 20th-century theatrical infrastructure in San Diego and it has continued to host performing arts and civic events for decades. The building remains a functioning historic theater in the city center.
