Exploratorium - pioneer of interactive science museums

The Exploratorium was founded by physicist Frank Oppenheimer in San Francisco in 1969 and is widely regarded as a pioneer of hands-on, interactive science museums. It originally opened at the Palace of Fine Arts and relocated to Pier 15 on the Embarcadero, reopening there in April 2013. The museum's experimental, visitor-driven exhibit model influenced the design of many subsequent science centers worldwide.
