San Diego Natural History Museum research collections

The San Diego Natural History Museum maintains extensive research collections of fossils, vertebrates, invertebrates, and botanical specimens at its Balboa Park facility. The majority of these specimens are stored off-exhibit and are available to qualified researchers by appointment or through curatorial request rather than open to general visitors. Public galleries display only a portion of the museum's total holdings.
