South Mountain Park rock ridges and Dobbins Lookout

South Mountain Park and Preserve covers more than 16,000 acres and contains a network of volcanic rock ridges, boulder outcrops, and desert pavements. Dobbins Lookout atop the park's rocky summit provides panoramic views over Phoenix and is a well-known vantage point formed on these native rock terraces. The park also contains multiple petroglyph sites and archaeological features carved into or associated with local rock surfaces.
