Aula Magna (UCLouvain)

The Aula Magna is a striking postmodern building located in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, serving as a major auditorium for the University of Louvain. Inaugurated in 2001, it features one of the largest auditoria in the country with a capacity of 1,050 seats and the largest stage in Wallonia. Designed by architect Philippe Samyn, the building is notable for its innovative glass and steel structure, standing 30 meters high and 70 meters long. It is situated near the Louvain-la-Neuve lake and is part of a cultural hub that includes a cinema complex. The Aula Magna has hosted significant events, including a state visit by French President Emmanuel Macron, and is recognized as a Registered monument in Walloon Brabant's cultural heritage. The complex also includes various meeting rooms and banquet facilities, accommodating up to 3,300 visitors, making it a key venue for academic and cultural events.
