Locust Lawn Estate

Locust Lawn is a historic 19th-century farm complex located along the Plattekill Creek in New Paltz, New York. The estate features the impressive Jeffersonian mansion of Colonel Josiah Hasbrouck, who played a significant role in local history as a Revolutionary War veteran and Congressman. The mansion, completed in 1814, showcases Federal style architecture and retains many original family possessions. Additionally, the site includes the Evert Terwilliger House, a fine example of Dutch-style stone architecture from the 18th century. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974, Locust Lawn is open to the public by appointment, offering a glimpse into the region's rich Huguenot heritage and agricultural past.
