Burnham Pavilion (Stanford University)

Burnham Pavilion, located at Stanford University in California, is a historic multi-purpose arena built between 1921 and 1922. Originally named the 'Stanford Pavilion', it served as the home for the Stanford Cardinal basketball team until the opening of Maples Pavilion in 1968. Notably, it was the largest arena dedicated solely to basketball at the time of its completion. The Pavilion has hosted significant events, including a first-round NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament game in 1953. Renamed in 1989 to honor Malin Burnham after a renovation that expanded its capacity to 1,400, it currently supports the university's gymnastics, wrestling, and men's volleyball teams, making it a vibrant part of Stanford's athletic community.
