ARBED building

The ARBED building, completed in 1922 and located on Avenue de la Liberté in Luxembourg City, served as the headquarters for the ARBED steel manufacturing company and later ArcelorMittal. Designed by French architect René Théry, the building features a grand architectural style inspired by 17th and 18th-century French châteaux, with a façade made of sandstone and notable sculptures symbolizing industry and economic success. After various ownership changes and a period of uncertainty regarding its future, the building was purchased by the BCEE bank in 2014 and reopened in 2016, now housing several of its business departments. The building stands as a testament to Luxembourg's transition from a steel-based economy to a financial hub, making it an interesting site for both tourists and researchers.
