Francis Whitaker

Francis Whitaker was a renowned American blacksmith artist who lived from 1906 to 1999, primarily known for his work in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, where he established The Forge in the Forest. Trained under notable blacksmiths, Whitaker's career spanned eight decades, during which he created significant wrought iron works, including the dragon-headed grille at the Kocher Building. He was also involved in the local community, serving on the Carmel City Council and preserving natural landmarks. His legacy includes teaching at the John C. Campbell Folk School and receiving numerous accolades for his contributions to the arts.
