Thapathali Durbar

Thapathali Durbar, located in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal, is a historic palace complex originally built by Nain Singh Thapa of the Thapa dynasty. The complex features numerous courtyards, gardens, and buildings, reflecting the rich architectural heritage of Nepal. It later became the residence of Jung Bahadur Rana, the prime minister, and was renamed Singha Mahal after his son inherited it. A notable feature of the complex is the Kalmochan temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, which showcases a blend of Mughal and Nepali architectural styles. Despite suffering damage from earthquakes, the site remains a significant landmark, offering insights into Nepal's royal history and cultural evolution.
