Stirling (Massaponax, Virginia)

Stirling, also known as Stirling Plantation, is a historic plantation house located near Massaponax in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Constructed between 1858 and 1860, this impressive 2+1⁄2-story brick dwelling showcases Greek Revival and Federal architectural styles. The house features a hipped roof, four interior end chimneys, and entrance porches added around 1912. The property includes a kitchen dependency, smokehouse, family cemetery, and archaeological sites of a weaving house and three slave cabins, offering a glimpse into the region's history. Stirling was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in American history.
