Unisphere (Flushing Meadows–Corona Park)

The Unisphere is a 140-foot stainless-steel globe constructed as the symbol of the 1964–1965 New York World's Fair and designed by landscape architect Gilmore D. Clarke. Located in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, the Unisphere was intended to celebrate global interdependence and modern space age engineering and has remained a prominent visual landmark in Queens. The structure and its surrounding plaza have been conserved and continue to host public events and fairs.
