African Burial Ground National Monument (Visitor Center)

The African Burial Ground National Monument commemorates the burial site of free and enslaved Africans used during the 17th and 18th centuries; human remains and artifacts were uncovered during 1991 excavations in Lower Manhattan. The site was designated a national monument in 2006 and the visitor center and exhibits interpret the history, archaeology, and cultural significance of the burial ground. The visitor center and related exhibitions are located at 290 Broadway in Lower Manhattan.
