Cater Hall

Cater Hall, also known as the Old President's Mansion, is a historic building located on the campus of Auburn University in Alabama. Constructed in 1915, it originally served as the residence for the university's president before becoming a social center in 1940. The hall is named after Dean Katharine Cooper Cater, who championed women's rights and education during her 34 years at Auburn. Today, it houses the Honors College and remains a venue for student activities. Notably, Cater Hall played a significant role in the women's rights movement at Auburn, including a pivotal protest in 1971 that contributed to the implementation of Title IX, promoting gender equality on campus.
