Attempted assassination of President Truman at Blair House

On November 1, 1950 two Puerto Rican nationalists, Oscar Collazo and Griselio Torresola, attempted to assassinate President Harry S. Truman at Blair House while he was living there during White House renovations. White House Police Officer Leslie Coffelt was mortally wounded while returning fire and killed Torresola; Collazo was wounded and later convicted. The incident is a well-documented part of Blair House's history and contributed to changes in White House and presidential security procedures.
