Wetter House

The Wetter House, a historic residence in Savannah, Georgia, was originally built in 1822 and later remodeled in 1857 by architect Augustus Wetter. Notable for its cast iron balconies adorned with medallions of famous figures, the house served as a temporary headquarters for Confederate General Robert E. Lee during the Civil War. It was demolished in 1950, leading to the establishment of the Historic Savannah Foundation. Today, only a section of the wall remains, and the site is part of the Savannah Historic District, recognized as a National Historic Landmark District.
