Pedro Joseph de Lemos

Pedro Joseph de Lemos was a multifaceted American artist and educator active in the San Francisco Bay Area from the early 20th century until his retirement in 1945. Born in 1882 in Nevada and raised in Oakland, he was influenced by Japanese woodblock printing and the Arts and Crafts Movement. De Lemos was a prominent figure in art education, founding the California Society of Etchers and serving as director of the San Francisco Institute of Art and later the Stanford University art museum. He designed several notable buildings in Palo Alto and Carmel-by-the-Sea, including the Allied Arts Guild, showcasing his commitment to integrating art and architecture.
